Currently I take Savella (over two years) but I'm trying to get off it. It dries me out and I have to battle with constipation as a result. I drink 64+ ounces of water daily but that doesn't seem to matter. The doc told me to take a stool softener with it.
In the past I've taken Lyric and Cymbalta but both caused severe problems with my GI tract. Unlike Savella they both caused diarrhea and Cymbalta cause vomiting as well. I had to have upper and lower endoscopy before anyone realised it was medication.
I've taken many other meds in an effort to treat symptoms but only the three mentioned are specific to Fibromyalgia. I've gotten very little relief from meds and I don't seem to have a good relationship with many of them.
For pain I was given Vicodin and Percocet but I don't like the way they make me feel so when pain gets bad I rest. The doc said they don't get rid of pain of they just make you not care you're in pain. They're probably effective for some people. I take Aleve and Tylenol before long car rides and before Osteopathic manipulations.
Petitegabby, I was first put on cymbalta for fibro & depression. It caused me to become hyper-aggitated, depressed more & actually increased my pain (side effects). They took me off it and weather me from Ambien to just my antidepressant (nortriptyline) & melatonin. Then another doc put me on gabapentin, but I was taken over due to developing tremors. I'm still having tremors but they don't want me to restart the gabapentin until Mayo finds the cause of the tremors. I've only been using Tylenol Arthritis or Aleve during the day and most nights. Occasionally I have to use Tramadol.
I was diagnosed with Sjogrens about 2 months ago. I've been taking Plaquenil and besides helping with the sjogrens, it's actually helped with some of the deep muscle pain from fibro, it's not as intense. Plaquenil is used for malaria and lupus. It's not a normal fibro med, but I'm gaining benefits. 🙏🌼
My meds currently: Helpful Zoloft(not used for fibro) Inderal Singular Vicodin(not on currently, but it really helped for pelvic pain) Occasionally a glass or two of red wine Benadryl(sleeping) Ibuprofen(prescription strength)
Not helpful: Percocet(not on at the moment-made me itch like crazy) Effexor(gave me nothing but side effects) Regular tylenol(sugar pill for me basically)
Oxazepam, Wellbutrin XL, levothyrixine, plaquenil, methotrexate, folic acid, Vicodin 5/325 2 every 8 hours, cymbalta, buspirone, adderall, simvastatin, gabapentin, prazosin, Calcium with D, vitamin D3 5000 in daily, Restasis eye drops, voltaren gel, Aspirin 81 mg. I can't take NSAIDs because of damage to my kidneys from using Piroxicam for my lupus. I tried Lyrica for fibromyalgia.. Definitely not for me. Made me have crazy thoughts. (Crazier than usual!! Lol).
Well I have a number of prescribed meds. I stopped all other meds as I felt I rattled enough! Nortriptyline was the earliest that didn't cause horrid side effects (amitriptyline was terrible). That was to help me sleep. Tramadol. Originally 50mg tablets to take as and when but I forgot if I'd taken them and consequently didn't take enough, so no I'm on 100mg twice daily slow release tablets. Much better and easier to remember. Cetirizine hydrochloride for the itching caused by Tramadol. Baclofen for twitching. Carbocisteine for loosening my lung gunk (not fibro med) Symbicort for asthma (definitely helpful for chest pain!) Something else for my reflux issue. Can't remember the name. No herbal remedies. The odd paracetamol as an extra but try to avoid since the mix of meds is pretty toxic as it is. Far more rare is the odd alcoholic drink, which I have to be careful with or I end up feeling much worse. P.
I take MST (Morphine Sulphate Time Release) (brand name = MS Contin) and Gabapentin (Brand name = Neurontin) They don't work well enough for me. In the past Ive had the following on their own or with paracetamol and or ibrubrofen: Codeine (oral) Tramadol (oral) Fentanyl (Transdermal) Amytriptaline
