What should I do? I feel like giving up ...

Jul 25, 2016 12:23 PM

I am 16 years old now. For almost two years now I have been feeling very ill. It has gotten to the point where I have to have a crutch to help me walk. Sometimes my sister has to help me put on my clothes, feed me and bath me because I am so weak. I've had this infected hair follicle on my vagina for 5 years now. I had three of them but two of them gotten completely better and it goes away with rubbing alcohol. But this one on me has gotten worse. It is really big to the point I can not close my legs and my whole vagina lip swells. It feel like the bump is growing in my skin because around it I feel something inside my skin that feels like a muscle or vein or something that is swelling i don't know. But when I push down on the bump it goes away but something is filling it back full of pus. It has gotten to bad that it you could see the pus floating around my bump. It was yellow and green. Well I have been swelling up really badly. It has gotten to bad it spread to my eye, neck, legs, feet, hands, hips lower spine and under neath my breast on top of my rib cage. I have been having severe stomach pains and chest pains. I have trouble sleeping at night because the pain is so bad. I am scared that this infection has gotten in my blood stream and spread to different parts of my body. Because of me being so sick I have gotten high fevers (99.9-104F), I am so weak I shake and I am really pale. I don't have the energy to do things anymore. No doctor has figured out what is wrong with me. My blood work has came back abnormal such as my vitmain D being very low, WBC being high, my neutrophils/100 leukocytes being very low. My blood pressure also has been high 140/82. I do not know what specialist I should go see. I feel like I am dieing and I am scared. I just want to get better and get treatment..... What specialist should I go see to figure out what is wrong?

Mischele16, I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible time of things. When you say you've had an infected hair follical for 5 years, you may very well have a horribly infected abscess at this point. When was the last time the doctor saw this infection. As a young girl of 16 you shouldn't have to be walking around without being able to close your legs because of this infection. If you soak in the tub and squeeze this thing, does the pus come out? If so, you need to go to a dermatologist and have them lance and drain it. You could very well become septic from an infection left unattended and become quite ill. I would start with the dermatology for the infection. After that, I would have your blood work done Again and depending on what comes back will determine where you need to go. You may want to check with your gynecologist. Also, if you're having pain in other areas, you can go see a neurologist and/or a rheumatologist. I wish you the best of luck Sweetie and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing.{{{Hugs}}}💕

The last time I went to the gynecologist was 4 years ago at its early stages and they drained it and told me if I came back I would have to get surgery. I am really scared. It is hard to squeeze the pus out. It doesn't come out easily. It is very painful as well. Is it possible that the infection could have gotten in my bloodstream and spread to different parts of my body causing me to swell and get this ill?

I've noticed when it does pop it makes a very very very deep and huge crater in my skin .... It scares me that it could be deep in my skin.

Mischele16 You definitely need to go to the doctor. When he said you would need surgery if it came back he said it for a reason. I'm not saying this to scare you but infections can get into your bloodstream and you can develop septicemia and that can be dangerous. Please, please go back to your gynecologist and have them check it out. I know your frightened but if you don't go you'd have a lot more to worry about. The best advise I can give you is to seek medical attention as soon as possible. It won't b pleasant but it'll be over with. If it leaves a crater, sounds like you have a hell of an abscess and if they don't get the sac out (the membranes that holds the infection) it can just keep coming back even if you squeeze all the pus out. Please keep me posted and let us know when you go t

Mischele16, I'm with AlwayZ on this. I hope you called you GYN doc today and stressed the urgency of being seen immediately, this week if not today! I use to work in a long term care (LTC) hospital, which dealt with a lot of skin infection patients. I can't tell you how urgent it is that you take care of this STAT. You would not want to become a patient in a LTC hospital, having a wound incised and drained weekly, if not sooner, in order to keep the infection from becoming septicemia. Trust me! A simple scratch can do so, due to the antibiotic resistant bacteria we now fight against. You are in my prayers, that they will get this cleared up quickly and without any long term issues. Please let us know how you are!! Hugs love & prayers! 😘💕🙏🌸

As flappy said you need to be seen immediately. Since you have an elevated temperature your infection is getting worse. More than likely this is a sebaceous cyst they never go away on their own. Basically it is a hair follicle that has trapped bacteria inside. The procedure is scarey but very simple. Any surgery is scarey but this is really a quick 10 minute fix. Because of your temperature and where the infection is please go see a doctor, you need antibiotics. This can go way wrong and it would be a shame to lose your life from an infection. I get that you are scared and I would be too but this is not something to play with. I do NOT advise draining it yourself because your entire vagina is a mucus membrane and that means you can very easily spread the infection! Plus this area of the body is a breeding ground for infection warm and moist. Please tell someone. Your body is yelling at you to help it it is swollen, you feel ill, your having pain in multiple areas, you have a fever. Yes the infection is spreading this is not something to wait around with. I promise your in more pain now than you will be in having it removed. As someone with a degree in medicine I can seriously say that. As a mom I am not sure if I want to hug you or kick your ass, maybe both but it is only out of love. Please update us after you get this fixed. You can PM me if you want to talk. Legally I cannot give you more specific advice, you are not my patient and I have not done any examination. Can you talk to your parents? You can go to planned parenthood if you cannot share this with a parent.

It looks like you are using catch my pain and there is no messaging with that app. If you download the sister program Pain companion then you can PM people if you want.
