What to do next...

Hi! I'm new to this community 😅

My gastroenterologist just declared me "chronic" with my IBS-M (we suspect it's not the only condition affecting me - my generalist is sending me to internal medicine)
How can you deal with daily pain? How do you explain it to friends and family?
I've been in constant pain for about a year and I don't know what to do next.

I think unless you’ve struggled with pain the concept is really hard to understand and deal with. At first my family was open to the prospect that I had pain and that it affected my quality of life and worK.

With time... I sensed that they were less compassionate to my needs and perhaps developed a bubble in which they kept me and my pain at bay. My pain prevented me from working.... I wasn’t able to walk, sit or stand without excruciating pain. They attributed my inability to work as laziness.

This not only added to stress which perpetuated my pain but left me very vulnerable.

It is not ironic that I found solace and friendship with others who have been unfortunate and suffered also.

Advice for you. Keep an open mind, stay strong, get leaflets to educate them.
Just don’t expect too much
