What to do while waiting?

Apr 10, 2018 4:43 AM

I've just talked to my doctor about what to do about my pain while I'm on the waiting list for the rheumatologist. My pain had been worse for about a month now. I just tried some pain meds last week but my stomach could not take it. When I talked to my doctor today she said there's nothing she can do right now. She just said I should rest and try to find a balance with rest and activities. The problem is that I get all worn out and get a lot more pain by doing the simplest things.

I have chronic pain in my chest and ribs. Unfortunately I haven't been able to pinpoint any triggers so I find it extremely hard to balance my everyday life. How do you manage to slow down and not get sad about your body feeling worse than "normal"?

I really hate all the waiting! I might get to see the rheumatologist in May but I still haven't gotten an appointment so I might have to wait longer than that. Anyone know of something I can try on my own while I wait for help?

Hi Juliauusitalo, I have started using CBD tea 1 cup twice a day. I also use diclofenic gel my GP issues when my ribs and knees hurt. I also use yoga - granted you have to push through the 'pain barrier' - and aromatherapy. Deep breathing exercises. What medication are you on right now?

@Kew2012 I don't have any medications at all. The pain meds I've tried has not given me any effect at all. I don't really know what kind of yoga to do because almost everything makes the pain worse, the same with deep breathing 😣

There's some fibromyalgia based yoga videos on YouTube that I do with the kids, maybe they may help? Sorry I'm not very helpful, fibromyalgia is such a crappy thing. There are some pain apps that use hypnotherapy. I hope you find some relief soon xx

@Kew2012 I hope so too! I don't have fibromyalgi but I might look at some of the yoga videos anyway. I just find it hard when I barely can stand pressure on my arm since that just makes the chest pain worse
