What was your most common pain and why?

I want to know

Oct 15, 2016 3:02 PM

My neck and shoulders now. My muscles are so right - even after taking a muscle relaxer. When it first started 40 plus years ago it was all over but the most noticeable was the neck and legs. Of course at the age of 12 it was simply growing pains. Guess I must still be growing.

It began shortly after I had attempted to use construction equipment as a monkey bar while waiting at the bus stop. The metal thing tipped over and hit me across the eyes/forhead. The day my life was irrevocably changed.

17 years ago diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

How about you?

What really bothers me even more than pain is the brain fog.

Have we met before? It not - then welcome. :) if so blame it on the fog.

Hi everyone, I'm new on here and trying to get to know my way round and hopefully make some new friends that actually understand the constant pain, depression and bad anxiety I have.

I couldn't tell you what hurts most because my pain is all linked. I have left side trigeminal neuralgia (TN). The pain for that is above and behind the left eye, the whole left side cheek and jaw (give me a pair of pliers and I'd pull every single tooth out on the left side) and also in and around my left ear. Because of the constant pain I'm tense most of the time, I try to relax my muscles when I notice but I rarely notice because I've been in pain on the left side for years. It actually started out as tmd from grinding my teeth. I'll just say it wasn't diagnosed for a very long time due to doctors sending me to the dentist then the dentist sending me back to the doctors!!!! (Sorry I often go off on a tangent but I'll go back on track now!!! Lol). Anyway because I'm so tense all the time my muscles in my neck and shoulders are soooooo tight and knotted I'm now in constant pain and numbness.....that really puzzles me, how can you be numb and have pain in the one area at the same time????.....Due to my neck and shoulders being like that i also now have constant pins and needles in all my left finger tips which has cause me to lose my depth perception and some of my strength in that hand. My pain is constant which most of the time a lot of doctors don't understand, they try to tell me the TN pain comes in waves it's not constant. Now I have a really good gp along with a excellent pain clinic nurse who seem to understand a little better. My pain at its best has been down to a 3/10 but atm I'm in a bad flair up which I've been in now for nearly 6 weeks and I'm averaging 7-8/10.
What I'm finding really hard at the moment is my anxiety, it is so bad that I freeze and I panic. I need shopping so I leave my house, which in itself is hard, I drive to the supermarket park up but I can't get out of the car, I can't go in the shop so I go home 😢

Sorry didn't mean to go on!

Sezzy, there's no reason to apologize. When you're under constant stress from pain sometime you will end up with depression and anxiety. I suffered with both long before the pain started and it got worse after. I have done that where I finally got myself out the door and got where I had to be and was not able to get out of the car. You will get through this. Try doing little exercises like getting yourself to leave the house and even if you drive around the block and come home, you left the house. As that becomes easier, give yourself specific destinations you need to go to. Drive to them and then sit there and go back. As it gets easier, you'll get out of the car and go in. I know there is only so long you can go without shopping is there a way you can use Pea Pod? They deliver your groceries to your house and this way it will give you more time to do the exercises. Sending positive vibes and good karma your way. Try to take someone with you if you have anyone that is free, that may get you out of the car and into the store easier. I wish I had better ideas for you. I'm sure there will be others along that cab help you better than I can. {{{Hugs}}}💕😊

Have you been tested for lupus?

Oct 17, 2016 3:08 PM

For me with lupus joint pain everywhere it changes up often what areas are more extreme. What stands out the most right now are my ribs on right side, both my wrists, and my hip from my waist down on the left side. Then my ankles. My hip/waist/lower back cripple me at times. When my ribs flare it hurts to breath or move. My wrists are hard to use when they're flaring.
The other day I had a severe back spasm that took my breath away and caused me to scream. I should have learned by now not to vacuum.

Alwayzinpain thank you. I have to leave the house to take my 10 year old daughter to school. I don't get out of the car tho, I pull up outside the school and she gets out and runs in and we do the same for pick up. I still struggle a lot with leaving the house and going places. Even when my kids are with me I really struggle to go anywhere but I do try and sometimes I'm able to go anywhere. There's been times when I've sent one of the kids in to get few bits we need

Gibber did you ask me whether I've been tested for lupus or someone else?
You'll have to excuse me I get very confused very easily!
If that was aimed at me no I haven't been tested for lupus and I'm not sure what the symptoms are for it.
I have asked if the constant exhaustion, feeling drained and always feeling tired could be something like ME but the doctors tell me it's the meds I'm on!

Mine started out as facial pain severe migraines this all happened after I had a crown on one of my left upper teeth. Had toothache so was sent to dentist then hospital, tooth was removed but still had toothache so crowned tooth had a fracture and had to be removed. Then I spent 3 years with sever pain to my face it would last 3 to 4 days then stop for a couple of days then return alternating the side of my face. Then one day noticed facial swelling but no migraine. Spent 10 years chasing my tail going back and forth between doctor, dentist and 2 different hospitals. Was finally diagnosed with fibro, cfs and tactile alloydynia that was about 3 years ago. Now I have high blood pressure. So I have pain in many places and have burning stinging in my right arm.
