Okay with my pain iv been told try heat and cold. The heat works so much better for me, I get some relief but as soon as I use ice it hurts alot! I use ice packs in towels. Does anyone find heat works better than cold?

I like ice--but with an iv, I think heat would be more comfortable as having something seize up around a needle/catheter doesn't sound good...

For me both work at different times. I tend to go for the heat first as it feels comforting but when I do put the ice on the body part, it feels really really good. If I feel I have aggravated something, I usually try to put ice first.

My body prefers heat. Every time I am exposed to cold - cold rain, cold weather, cold river, cold pool - I experience incredibly intense pain. I almost always reach for a heating pad first, unless I know I want to reduce inflammation, and I'll grab ice. Put me in a hot tub over a bath any day!
