I went to my neurosurgeon yesterday for results of spine MRI, and it's bad news. Not only is C3&4 and C7-T1 not healing, but now T1-2 & 3 are messing up as well as C2. They want me to do strengthening & conditioning PT of my neck and upper back so I'm in as good of muscular shape as possible pre-op. They want to do a facet block to the C2 disc area that's causing my headaches and if it helps they will burn the nerves during the (to be determined when) surgery to fix any and all issues from C2 to T3, including revising the no healing fusions. But they must go through my back because having entered my neck in the front 4 surgeries ago, there is too much scar tissue. After surgery I will be under severe restrictions of arm movements for 3months or longer, including zero driving, and long slow recovery of the muscles of 1+ years and the discs 2 years or longer. OMG... Not looking forward to that!
Anyway, while checking out & setting up PT, I received a call that my stepmom fell at the assisted living facility and they suspected a broken bone or two. So I rushed to the ER to find out she broke her hip. We waited from 9:30am until they took her to surgery at 5:30pm. She fractured an unknown previous "impacted" fracture of the femur neck, just below the ball joint. They did a partial hip replacement via a hemiarthroplasty ball joint. Left there and got in bed at 10pm, fell asleep after 11pm, woke in extreme leg pain at 1:20am. Took more tramadol, baclofen, & gabapentin, but couldn't go to sleep until 4am, and had to get up at 6am to return to the hospital and sit with Mom today, so she wouldn't get out of bed unassisted...not that I can help with my own health restrictions. Did I mention this is my third night where pain has woke me up? I've had 12 hours sleep in 3 days time and I'm at the end of my limit of functionability. I don't want to take too much and accidentally OD! But I can't handle another horribly painful night. And I have to go sit with her again tomorrow, but thankfully only half the day. Ugh it's going to be another long and painful night. 😢. Maybe if this is a new type of Sjogrens+fibromyalgia flare I'm developing it will be short lived, although it's already been the worst yet.
Hugs love and prayers that everyone else had a better night than me! 🙂❤🙏🌼.
