When you realise (poem)

Nov 19, 2015 11:30 PM

When you wake up one morning
And the whole earth shakes
Seconds later it's gone
But your whole body quakes, out of control

When you realize you're quiet
Self dooming with anxiety

When three guys try to rape you
While an ex friend stands by
And you feel so weak
Tired when you see him
Walking down the bus isle
Relatively free

Don't say anything for one and a half years
When you break down and crumble
In your parents arms
Wishing everything was really alright

The adults say they'll help you
If you'd only speak up
But then come the lies
They don't hear you

Three kids die the next three years
Closer each time
It could have been you

The counselors tell you
If you just let people in
Trusted them
The world would be alright

But here I am
Forever an optimist
My hope comes back to haunt me
Hell invades my dreams
That, or I can't sleep

Take a walk down memory lane
Try to forgive

You still feel fear
Rush into your brain
You just went to the store
Your sister moved
Just out of sight

Now your heart is racing
You wonder if she ran away again
Like she had

When she was six, she tried to run away
You tried to stop her
Mom dragged her off you, stopping the suffocation
Sister's pillow case, smashing her weight into breathlessness
Then they both scream at you
As if it was
Like she does
Like she will

Then there's pain
Tell me again time heals anything...
