So, I went to bed at a normal time for me last night(around 10), took 2 pain pills and called it a night. Woke back up at 3 ish this morning. Again, convinced myself to go back to sleep. It's just now 5:30 in the morning and I feel absolutely worn out. This is NOT how I want to be at all.
Amandamiddleton1234, when I first started hurting and waking up, like you described, I had to request something to help me sleep. Until you get a handle on your pain, where it's more tolerable to get through day to day, you may need something too. I used ambien but I got dependent on it and had to be weaned off using antidepressant and Melatonin. If you haven't tried Melatonin its good too, but until I had my coffee I felt sluggish. Praying you'll get a better night sleep tonight!
Amanda, I can certainly sympathize with your inability to get a good night's sleep. I've learned through my neurologist that folks who suffer with Fibromyalgia usually cannot achieve REM sleep and therefore, even if you get more than a few hours of sleep it is not deep or restorative. I have trouble sleeping due to my pain and sometimes I'm so tired that I can't hold my eyes open in the afternoon and take a nap. However, I almost never get more than 3 hours of sleep a night and I always feel tired. I really think that pain and anxiety drain our energy as well. I agree with FlappsyLady that you may do better with some type of sleep aid. Try something over the counter first. Since it's not something you currently take, it may just be enough for you to sleep and those are non habit forming. I tried Ambien and it didn't work for me and it gave me bad headaches. Now I take Restoril and it really doesn't keep me sleeping. It will help me fall asleep but then I wake up and doze back off, etc. I went to bed early last night myself (around 11:00pm) and I woke up at 1:15am and have been up ever since. It can become very frustrating. I hope you find something that works for you so that you can get the rest you need. i'll say a prayer for you that it happens quickly... Feel better and I hope you have a peaceful and light pain day.
Amanda,Flappsy, and Always i take melatonin 3 MG I take 4 an hour before bedtime. But it doesn't keep me asleep I wake up and sometim e so I can't fall back a sleep and sometimes I doze and wake up several more times a night. I wake up feeling beat.
I sleep like a baby, up every hour. I feel like the pain is taking over. I was on ambien and will never take it again. I had to be put on time release which is ambin cr. Anyway my son had to go to urgent care in the night and I had to fight to stay awake. It also made me lose blocks of time. And I think it made me grumpy. I also didn't move in the night which caused more pain. Sometimes I think waking up is,better because the moving around helps a little. I don't think there is a winning cure for this only taking more drugs to cover it. I also find a strange thing that every 3 to 4 weeks I pretty much sleep through a few days round the clock.
