Why is my GI system so messed up?

Oct 28, 2016 10:30 PM

Since I was 10, I've had week-months long "attacks" of constpation, diarrhea, occasional blood in the stool, nausea, and vomiting. But when I turned 18 it seemed to be never ending. I don't remember the last time I was regular and I'm almost 21. Now I'm having the worst abdominal pain of my life. It started in the right upper quadrant, so I had an ultrasound and HIDA scan done. Both were negative. The pain has spread to just about my entire abdomen. Very crampy, tender just below my breastbone and around my gallbladder (Murphy's sign got me the gallbladder tests). I'm seeing a gastroenterologist on November 8th. What can I expect as far as testing goes? Does anyone have the slightest clue as to why I might be so miserable?

Idk for sure but some these things ur talking about I expierenced as well.. U may be looking at IBS.. OR IBS-D, but sounds to me like IBS... I was previous in IBS then in March everything hit fast n hard.. It's taken me 9 months to get answers after me trying for 9 years myself... I had a UPPER AND LOWER GI done almost weeks ago.. I was terrified but knew it would give me answers needed.. The worst part honestly is drinking that fucking liquid drink you haaaaave to an u haaaaave to follow directions hard or not or u have do it all over again it sucks no joke.. The test u never even know they put u under I do not remember anything but my doctor looking like a penguin lol... But now I know I'm IBS IBS-D.. Fibromyalgia... Ptsd.. Already suffered from wicked insomnia, chronic migraines, restless leg syndrome which has been heightened by the Fibro like a lot things have... They started me on a pill called Dicyclomine to help pain n cramps in my tummy.. And I'm back on few my meds that I came off due to no doc no money no one would see me for past 9 months.. Still fighting disability hoping that will wrap up soon... Good luck if u need to talk message me hugz...

Painedbutpushingon, I am sorry that's happening to you. I went through that when my gallbladder went bad. I ended up in hospital for 8 days 3 separate times in 6 months and finally after several tests they discharged me and I was back in a week to have my gallbladder out. My younger sister who is now 37 had symptoms like yours and after having her appendix removed and an ovarian cyst rupture, she suffered for several years before finally being diagnosed with Chrone's Disease. She hasn't been in remission in over 3 years. Please have your gastroenterologist check everything he can and run every blood he can. I send you well wishes, sweetie and hope you get your answers soon. {{{hugs}}}💕

Wishing you the best as you journey through the tedious process to getting a diagnosis and hopefully a treatment plan that helps you! I am fortunate not to have as many gi issues as so many people I see in the clinic! I do know that whatever pain I have is escalated to the umpth degree with any GI disturbances! It really sounds like you have inflammatory bowel and possibly crohns. It is important to find a GI Dr that is responsive to your needs and aggressive in treatment. You are too young for the devastating effects in the lifetime of untreated ulcerative colitis! Wishing we'll and many hugs! 💖

I suffer from Severe Gastroparesis, it's hard to explain... better to look it up, it's considered rare. It has been life altering for me and not in a positive way. I have frequent hospital visits, inability to digest, extremely crippling abdominal pain, inability to retain food, inability to use the bathroom, constant nausea and vomiting and so on. I started out as being diagnosed with IBS.

Oh God Samantha, I'm cringing just thinking about it.. I have a lot of nausea and I always talk myself out of vomiting (at least I TRY to, it doesn't always work).
Sending well wishes and gentle {{{Hugs}}} to all who are suffering with these aweful tummy issues.. 💕😊

I have gastroparesis too, tho not severe. My stomachs is really messed up this weekend and today. I'm nauseas and it hurts. I've been eating tums but they aren't working. Feels like a heart attack, but I know it's my stomach.
