Worse with age?

Nov 04, 2015 8:54 AM

They say Fibromyalgia does NOT get worse with age, but l feel like it has for me. Especially the fatigue. Maybe it's getting older combined with the illness in general? And I'm only 40 this year

I always felt that it never reached its peak with me. I'm 51 but I got really bad in 2012. I've never recovered from the flare ups, but I also have MS, and DDD. So it could be related to the MS and the relapses I have had. I used a cane for a long time, then a walker. I still use it when I can, but sadly, my wheelchair will be delivered on the 11th. It's the one thing that I was refused to believe would happen. Having to have a wheelchair.

Jesswoo, I have found that with age (I'll be 50 on Monday) I have gotten worse. However along with a fibro diagnosis I have at least a dozen more pain causing illnesses to deal with so I can't say if I can blame it on the fibro. I wish there was something I could say or do to make everyone's pain ease and/or go away. It makes me sad to know so many are suffering. I'd love to take it away from you all. The only thing I can say is, one moment, one hour, one day at a time and deal with things as best you can at that time. Hoping everyone is having a peaceful and lighter pain day. {{{Hugs}}} and prayers to all. 💕🙏🏻🌻

I wish I could take everyone's pain away too. Maybe it's the nurturing instinct. I don't know. Unfortunately the pain does get worse with age.

I am 59 will be 60 in Feb next year. For me I have noticed that I get tired faster than I useded to my stamina has gotten so much lower than when I was younger. My granddaughter has me exhausted before 10:30 everyday. Lol she's just 6 months old and not crawling yet and I have a feeling I' m going to be more tired than I am now.

Think back to your grandparents and parents. Watching mine as I grew up, they just naturally wore down with aches and pains and fatigue as they aged. Now enters chronic pain issues upon us as we age. It most certainly won't get any easier. But I thought to myself, "II can still hope."

That was before my doc appt today. Sitting in the waiting room a woman older than me (53), struck up a conversation about sjogrens & hypothyroidism. She said she had both as well as lupus and 2 other issues I can't remember. Then she turned to me and said, "Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but as young as you are, you will go on to develop several more likely related illnesses. Good luck." Smiling she walked to the back for her appointment. All I could do was say, "gee, thanks for the warning." So I guess I should be thankful I am at least forewarned. 🙏🌼

Oh Flappys, that wasn't nice of her. We all age, but no one should make you feel worse because you have a disease. Just because I have certain things doesn't mean others will develop them because of fibromyalgia. It's not a given.

Flappsy she must have been a unhappy person. Wanting to make you feel as bad as her. Hopefully by God's grace you won't get these illnesses she was telling you about. Will keep you in my prayers, sending you lots of love and hugs.

I actually couldn't help but laugh. I already have the sjogrens, fibro, hypothyroidism. She's sitting there saying she has sjogrens and her mouth is just so dry all the time. I lifted a water bottle and said, "I take this everywhere because my throat gets so dry I can't speak." She didn't hush talking. I think she was actually a happy person, and she meant well by trying to warn me. We've even discussed on here about how once you get an autoimmune issue you tend to get another and another. I wasn't offended by it. I do hope I won't get another though. Wishing you all a gold night! 🙏🌼
