Your place of pure solitude

Dec 14, 2016 9:44 PM

Everyone has a place in their memories that continues to warm their hearts to this day.

I grew up doing a lot of hiking, biking and camping. It became a tradition for quite a few years to visit the tunnels at Caddy Lake in MB, Canada. We would take a 1/2 boat ride to these beautiful tunnels, and we would boat through while blowing our whistles. It was amazing and beautiful. I will never forget the times I got to experience the tunnels ! And yes I said tunnels. Another boat ride across a different lake and you're at another tunnel connecting to another lake ! At this point cabins become more sparse and you notice how beautiful nature is as it overcomes everything.
Before I got sick we would boat EVEN FURTHER and portage our fishing boats to yet another different lake. This lake was free of all cabins and we were totally one with nature. I will probably never have the chance to do this again because of my inability to sit in a boat.
I will never forget the beauty !!
I would love to see your place of solitude.

JessieNova - My family used to camp on Lake Ontario every summer. I have such great memories from there! That's when we lived in upstate NY. I now live in Colorado. My place of solitude is a place called Avalanche Ranch in Redstone, Colorado. This is the view from the front porch of the cabin we stay in. There are natural hot springs there that have gorgeous views as well. There is no cell service. Absolutely gorgeous, quiet and relaxing :)

One more.... This was the view from one of the hot springs pools. One cascades into another which cascades into another. Absolutely perfect relaxation.

Every year for past 5 years (except this one) my best friend and I spend 10 days at Crystal Beach in Texas. Last year I took this picture of a shell on the beach. It expresses so well how I feel about that beach. :)

Inks Lake Texas. As a pre-teen and teenager we often camped here.. Now I am in my 50's and have found my way back to Texas.. To the beach.. To Inks Lake and most importantly to my friends I had left so many, many years ago.

My peaceful place is anywhere I can be in nature. The further away from civilization and it's congested noise the better. :)

Last one. This is a little picnic area by Saline River in Arkansas. Just 1/2 hour from my house. If I need a quick place to go and just breathe this is my quick fix.

Gorgeous... I love riverbanks and nature!!💕

Me too Alwayz. Water and tree's plus the fewer people the better. I still go tent camping. I take several of those foam cushions.. And a plush blanket. Its actually more comfy than my bed here. Leave the rain fly off if it's warm enough and not raining - and I can fall asleep under the tree's. Lol. And the squirrels can wake me up.

2 years ago I had driven over to the shower house. Started to get out of the car then saw I had company. This kitty. 🐱 yikes! Just a little cougar checking out the tree. I stayed in the car until the coast was clear.

Last year as we drove through Shaffer Bend Park it was wild hogs. I love Shaffer Bend. Fewer people and at night across the bank you can hear the coyotes call. Often in the early morning our camp would be visited by either wild turkey or deer. I know, I am crazy... But there's just nowhere else I can truly breathe and find a deep inner peace.

This is when I went to the Bahamas. 32 of us took 4 40 ft Morgan sailboats and sailed around Bahamas. I love being at the beach.

the beach is beautiful but I hate getting sand in certain places... LOL!!!!😜😂

Dec 15, 2016 8:15 AM

Lol Alwayz. I bet that was a grand adventure!

Dec 15, 2016 9:03 AM

Mimikay, you're too funny!!! That was one hell of a giant puss on that tree!! What an amazing thing to see in the wild🤗💕

Dec 15, 2016 11:48 AM

Lol Alwayz.. As long as it was the tree he was checking out I was fine. Lol when he looked at me before sauntering off my car Windows went up. ;)

He was beautiful though. Wish I had my zoom camera with me but just had my phone so pictures not real good.

It's funny, because I traveled the US a lot when I was younger, but once I saw this thread one special little place leaped to mind - Lake Glendale in Southern Illinois. I stayed there during an electrical storm by myself where they had cleared out all the other campers, but missed me. I was cozy in my tent with a bottle of wine celebrating the first night of what would be a cross-country trip, so snuggled in my sleeping bag on top of an air mattress, that I slept right through a large pine tree that fell just 3 yards from my tent. The next morning as I was stood agape at the tree, a small fawn hopped up on the trunk and and stared me down in curiosity, then bounded away. It was pretty special.

Thanks so much for this thread Jesse Nova I really love seeing everybody's tranquility spots. Very relaxing to go on a trip with all of you. 🏕🏖🏝🏞 and that cougar is something else!!

Saphira - those moments like that really are special. I can just imagine that fawn and you sharing a moment together. :)

At the moment this is my place of solitude. It's the beach across the road from my mums. It's nice to walk along and on the warmer days the kids like to go in....even in summer the Thames Estry water is far too cold for me!!!!

Dec 17, 2016 1:13 PM

With a wife and three daughters and a blizzard outside right now, my place of solitude has been the few minutes alone in the bathroom i get lol

Dec 18, 2016 12:26 AM

All look very lovely I wise I had anything like these places.

Dec 19, 2016 12:52 AM

Newfibro - sometimes my place of solitude is curled up on the couch with a good book. :)

Dec 19, 2016 3:15 PM

Any beach or mountain is relaxing to me. And a good book is truly better than Calgon! 😉
